On Air The Morning Show Chris Williams | 9:30am - Noon

#MRWomenToday listen again: home fire safety; advert stereotypes; gender neutral tube announcements

On the programme today: -

MarkCaley2- we were joined in the studio by Mark Caley from the Isle of Man Fire Service and we talked about the importance of making sure you’d know what to do in the event of a fire in your home, from smoke detectors to phone chargers, hair straighteners to BBQs; to find out about the recruitment days for retained firefighters, visit the website here or keep an eye on their Facebook Page and, if you're interested in organising a home visit or finding out more about home safety, check this page, or give them a call on 647300

- also today we talked about the Advertising Standard's Agency to bring about tougher rules for British adverts with regards gender stereotyping;

- similarly we looked at news that, when travelling on the London tube, from now on you will no longer be addressed as “ladies and gentlemen” – instead announcers will use the gender neutral term ‘Everybody’ - and you were very vocal about this new approach to minding the gender gap...

- and we heard from Tina Brennan, who told us all about the Summerland Memorial Concert happening on July 29th, with performances from Matt Creer, Mae Challis, Jeff Jepson and more; you can get tickets for the show from the usual Peel Centenary Centre outlets; also, if you are a web savvy sort and think you can help Tina in putting together a website about Summerland (she needs a hand with her widgets!) give her a call on 424806.

If you missed the show you can listen again for the next 7 days at this link. Tomorrow, we are joined by two of the contestants in this year's Miss Isle of Man Pageant. Tune in from 2pm!
