#MRWomenToday Listen again: Hop tu Naa traditions

On our very spooky programme today:

- We chatted with James Franklin from Culture Vannin about the origins of the oldest tradition on the Manx culture, Hop tu Naa, as well as attempting to get a definitive answer on whether it's pronounced 'Hop-tu-Nay' or 'Hop-tu-Naa'. We're still a little undecided!

- Also today, we heard from the wonderful Katie King from Manx National Heritage about a name that many of us might recognise - Jinny the Witch. Katie told us about the lady who might just have inspired the character we sing about. We also spoke about some traditional Manx divinations that apparently offer up the opportunity to find out the name of your future husband.

- Ruby Biscoe-Taylor from local pop-folk group Biskee Brisht joined us to tell us about a modern day of the traditional Manx Hop-tu-Naa song. The band are helping to re-interpret Manx culture through their music and their song is available to download for free from their bandcamp page.

We didn't quite get time to talk about everything we wanted to, so we had another chat with our guests after the show about spooky going-on from around the Island. To listen in, find the podcast on our Women Today podcast page.

Wishing you all a suitably creepy evening if you're out and about with your moots. Join us again tomorrow from 2pm.

If you missed the programme you can listen again for the next 7 days at this link.
