On the programme today: -
- as Scotland becomes the first part of the UK to ban the smacking of children – we asked you, is it time for us to change our laws?
- were joined again today by deep vein thrombosis survivor Dawne Archer who was first on show at the start of the year to raise awareness about DVT after her own near-fatal personal experience; at that time time she was in the middle of writing a book and she came back in today having finished and published it! Called 'Trekker Girl Morocco Bound', it tells the extra-ordinary story of her epic adventure to the Sahara with a school friend - it's a heart warming, funny and inspiring read, and with all profits going to Thrombosis UK, it's well worth the £2.99 price (for kindle version - which you can buy here) or £7.99 for hard copy, available from the Bridge Bookshop in Port Erin or Chree Brae Gift Shop in Castletown; you can also email Dawne for more information at trekkergirl@outlook.com
- also with us this afternoon was Sports Coaching Co-ordinator Trevor Christian to tell us about this year’s annual Isle of Man Sport lecture, which this year is by Phil Moreland, Head of Strength and Performance Conditioning at Sport Scotland’s Institute of Sport. the lecture is at the Kings Court Theatre at King William's College on Thursday October 26th, 6.30pm, it's just £2 and is open to ALL to attend. All proceeds go to Isle of Man Sport Aid, which supports the Island’s talented athletes in the pursuit of their ambitions. You can buy tickets through the Eventbrite link here, and find out more at the Isle of Man Sports Facebook Page here
- and finally today, the ongoing film industry harassment scandal took something of an unexpected turn today, as Sir Tom Jones admit that he had a disturbing experience in the 1960s
