#MRWomenToday listen again: Victim Support; banning firemen; declaring sexuality at GPs

On the programme today: -

- we were joined in the studio by the manager of Victim Support, Paula Gelling who came in to talk to us about the incredibly difficult subject of domestic abuse; we looked at what actually constitutes abuse and crucially what support is available over here for anyone going through it and much more; Paula also mentioned the volunteer recruitment drive, as the charity is eager to encourage people with a variety of skills to help support the charity - they are looking for everyone from adminstrators, to fundraisers, to management roles and, of course anyone who feels able to support victims themselves by being a listening ear. There is a meet and greet on Thursday at 2pm at the Coffee Exchange on Athol Street which everyone is welcome to attend.

There is also a fundraising quiz happening on Nov 2nd at Bar George, £15 a head including food. Contact Paula on iomvictimsupport@manx.net to book a seat.

For more information about Victim Support, about abuse or about to help someone if you are concerned, contact the charity on 679950, email iomvictimsupport@manx.net or visit their website

- also today we asked whether the NHS should be asking all patients about their sexuality, in an attempt to make sure no patient is discriminated against

- and as Dany Cotton, the first female Commissioner of the London Fire Brigade speaks out against labels, we asked whether you thought all job titles should be gender neutral - almost immediately the page ‘lit up’ with your rather passionate comments...

If you missed the show, you can listen again for the next 7 days at this link. Tomorrow, we'll be speaking with two Rachels - archaeologist Dr Rachel Crellin and former S Club pop star Rachel Stevens
