Musical nostalgia with Pete Bottomley and Wendy McDowell

Lots of music nostalgia on Women Today as Louise Quirk chatted with Phil Bottomley about the many groups he's played in over the last 40 years - and he shows no signs of hanging up that guitar just yet!  He's involved in at least one new band - currently rehearsing in Onchan and boasting a fine cello player in the line up!  Then Jude caught up with Wendy McDowell - probably one of the busiest musicians on the Island!  She's the Musical Director of the Lhon Doo Male Voice Choir, the accompanist for Regal Singers and she's organist and choir mistress in St Peter's, the Parish Church in Onchan - and that's in addition  to supporting solo singers and helping out wherever she's needed .....  Here's Wendy accompanying the Hospice Choir at their recent Christmas Fair

and here she is with Arthur Cowley - his folk songs are often class-winners at The Guild - and always Wendy is his accompanist ...

Wendy told wonderful stories about her late and much loved husband Wylie - a fine singer but also an accomplished comic actor .... she reminisced about Simon Fletcher showing signs of a great talent for musical theatre even when he was still a Ballakermeen schoolboy .... and her stories transported us to Christmas at the Villiers, where for many years Wendy and her friends provided daily - and very varied - entertainment for the guests.
