Serenades in the studio with Dickie Kelly and his guitar

Our studio guests today were popular entertainer Dickie Kelly, and Val Quayle, who just happens to be one of his biggest fans! Dickie was full of great stories about the musicians he's known, and the venues he's played in,  over the last 30 years.  We learned about his huge commitment to charity work - he has a real heart for supporting good causes - and listened as he described that most moving moment when he was invited by Linda Dunlop to sing the song he wrote as a tribute to the late Joey Dunlop - in Joey's own pub in his home town of Ballymoney!

We talked with Val Quayle about the whole topic of reunions !  Are they a good or a bad thing?  Do reunions with former work colleagues go better than school reunions?  Do we really want to see the class bully again ?  Do we have anything in common with folk we've worked with ? Val is thinking of possibly organising a reunion for former students of Douglas High School for Girl - of years commencing 1963, 1964 and 1965 - if enough people are interested. The date she's suggesting is Friday 6th July 2018 - the day after our Manx National holiday.  Just to jog your memory, Miss Kneen was Headmistress and Miss Beatson was her Deputy.  If you'd like to discuss this further with Val, email her on valquaylepeel2@gmail.com
