CWG: Sharpe to end cycling career with Road Race

Athlete says move will be a weight off her shoulders

Manx athlete Amelia Sharpe has said the Commonwealth Games Road Race will be her last as a professional cyclist.

Writing on social media, Amelia said "I haven't had an easy two years since turning pro and it caused me to be so unhappy I didn't see a future for myself".

The 21-year-old says stepping away feels like a weight off her shoulders.

Amelia goes on "I'm lucky I get to see it off in the best way possible representing my country, the Isle of Man".

Most recently, Amelia's been riding for the AG Insurance - NXTG Team based in The Netherlands.

The Commonwealth Games Women's Road Race takes place tomorrow from 8am and the men's event is from 12.30pm.
