Team IOM cycling coach speaks ahead of Saturday's Road Race
Team Isle of Man’s cycling coach is “hopeful” that Matthew Bostock will be fit to race in Saturday’s road race.
Andy Roche says his head injuries need to be monitored in the meantime.
Team England’s doctor has been providing support, checking that Bostock is not suffering from concussion.
Andrew Roche told Manx Radio: “We’re here to ride for the gold medal, that’s what we’re lining up for.
“Lizzie Holden is returning from the Tour de France, we have very strong teams in both events”, he added.
Tom Mazzone is the backup rider if Bostock is unable to ride.
The women’s road race in Warwick starts at 8am on Sunday, 7 Juy. The men’s race starts at 12:30.
For the women, Jess Carridge, Anna Christian, Lizzie Holden, Amelia Sharpe and Becky Storrie are the possible riders.
For the men, it’s Matthew Bostock, Sam Brand, Mark Cavendish, Mark Christian, Tom Mazzone and Ben Swift.
