Omicron wave 'may have peaked', says Public Health

Covid 'R' number falls to 0.49

The Omicron wave may have peaked and the rate of Covid transmission in the Isle of Man is slowing, according to the Public Health's latest weekly surveillance report.

The health body says we continue to be in a fourth wave of Covid infection, driven by the omicron variant - which remains the dominant strain.

In the last week seven people have been in hospital with the virus of which 42.9 per cent were unvaccinated.

Another 42.9 per cent were vaccinated with booster, and the remaining 14.3 per cent double jabbed - without booster.

No further Covid-19 related deaths have been recorded.

On average, daily reported positive results have been around 191, meaning the reproduction rate stands at 0.49, down from 1.04 the week before.
