Mayor of Douglas to stand for House of Keys

Jon Joughin wants Douglas East seat

The Mayor of Douglas has announced his intention to stand for election to the House of Keys.

Jon Joughin wants to represent Douglas East as an independent candidate.

He revealed his decision at a public meeting of Douglas Council confirming he would not be standing for the local authority elections in July.

He will continue to fulfil all mayoral obligations to the council and the town.

Mr Joughin stood unsuccesfully for the Douglas East seat at the last election in 2016.

The General Election takes place on 23 September.

Manx Labour Party candidate Joney Faragher and Michael Josem, who is representing the Liberal Vannin Party, have also declared their intention to represent the constituency.
