'Both sides of abortion debate entitled to protest'

MHK criticises images, but defends right to demonstrate

An MHK says campaigners on both sides of the abortion debate have the right to make their views known.

A pro-life group called Abort 67 protested outside Tynwald yesterday (12 Dec), as part of their anti-abortion 'Awakening Tour' of the Isle of Man.

Protestors waived placards with images of aborted foetuses.

Dr Alex Allinson described the display as deliberately offensive and shocking, but defended the group's right to demonstrate.

However the Ramsey member says ultimately it's the views of Island residents that are most important:

There's another protest being held by Abort 67 in Douglas on Regent Street from 12:30pm - the group is also holding an event in Peel.
