Matt Stevenson wins final race of Manx Grand Prix
Matt Stevenson has dramatically won the Manx Grand Prix Senior Race - his 2nd year taking part in the race.
It's the 24-year-old's first MGP win.
And Stevenson was out in front from the very start, with Stephen Parsons in 2nd and Dean Osbourne in 3rd. However only a few seconds separated the top 10 racers, with James Chawke in 4th.
Throughout the 2nd lap Stevenson and Parson took turns in leading the race with Chawke taking 3rd place.
In this lap Stevenson entered the Tommy Club reaching an average speed of 120.264mph.
With racers coming in for their pits at the end of the 2nd lap, major changes to the leaderboard were in store. Chawke had a slow exit from the pits, which was reflected in his spot dropping to 6th into the 3rd lap.
Leading into the 3rd lap was still Stevenson, with Parsons 5.4 seconds behind and now Osbourne in 3rd place 4.1 seconds behind.
But a dramatic change came in after Osbourne retired at Quarry Bends and Stevenson received a 10 second penalty for leaving his engine on in his pit stop. That left Stevenson in 2nd place, 10 seconds behind Parsons who led at Ramsey Hairpin. And Chawke temporarily managed to climb back up to 3rd place.
Stevenson wasn't giving up though and closed the gap between him and Parsons in front, to 7.7 seconds by the end of the lap, with Steven Proctor overtaking Chawke into 3rd place.
Into the 4th and final lap and Stevenson continued to close the gap to 2.9 seconds by Ballaugh Bridge, catching up with Parsons. Proctor remained in 3rd with Chawke dropping further back into 5th, after being narrowly overtaken by newcomer Mike Brown.
By the Ramsey Hairpin Stevenson had eaten further into Parsons' lead, only 1.1 seconds behind, with Proctor in 3rd 23 seconds behind the neck and neck leaders.
All eyes were on the timings in the final stages of the Senior MGP race, with the anticipation of whether Stevenson could steal the lead back by the finishline.
By the Bungalow he did it!
Stevenson took the lead by the bungalow and extended that to 5.1 seconds by the finishline, with an average lap speed of 120.974mph - and won the Manx Grand Prix Senior Race.
