Chiropractor steps into statins debate

It's time for Manx patients take control of their healthcare according to an Island chiropractor, who says popping prescribed pills isn't always the solution.

Neil Thompson from private wellness clinic Align For Life is a qualified doctor of chiropractic.

He says prescription drug misuse is a substantial public concern in the UK, arguing g that the situation here will only improve when surgery and drugs take a back seat.

Dr Thompson made his comments after a public debate this week on the wisdom of prescribing statins to adults. 

Speakers in favour of the cholesterol-lowing drug and opposed to its wide use, argued their cases in front of a 200-strong audience at the Manx Museum on Monday night (25 Sept).

The debate Statins: Curse or Cure? was organised by the Positive Action Group.
