Man charged with two counts of harassment

30-year-old persists with woman after she ended relationship

A court's heard a Douglas man continued to message and call a police officer after she called off their relationship.

Federico Owen Frigerio of Cushag Road appeared before magistrates at Douglas courthouse.

He was charged with two counts of harassment between 1 and 10 December last year.

Prosecution advocate Barry Swain told the hearing the 30-year-old had given her flowers and chocolates after meeting her online, and presented her with a ring on their second meeting in person.

Frigerio continued to message and call the woman after she ended their relationship, and on one occasion turned up outside her home to read a love message to her.

Defence advocate Ian Kermode said his client didn't accept what he'd done was necessarily a criminal act.

However, he agreed to a binding over order in the sum of £500 which means Frigerio must keep the peace for 12 months.

Mr Swain offered no evidence in the case and the charges were dismissed.
