No need for trial in golf club case

A Douglas man charged with possessing an offensive weapon has appeared before Deemster Doyle at a Court of General Gaol.

Damien Blackall, of Ballacottier Meadows, denied the charge, which related to a golf club, but admitted an alternative of affray, by threatening unlawful violence towards Ian Newbury on June 29 last year.

He also admitted causing damage to a property in Rosehill Mews, on the same date.

The prosecution said the pleas were acceptable to the Crown, and no trial would be necessary for the offensive weapon charge.

Blackall was bailed until March 7, when he will be sentenced.
