Late Lunch listen again: St Stephen's Village Hall

In our next edition of the Village Hall Series, we hit the TT course and made our way to St Stephen's Hall in Sulby. We were invited by our own Judith Ley, who organised some wonderful guests for us:

The children of Sulby Primary School sang two songs for us and also told us about their fantastic community work

The Sulby Sewers showed us their wonderful work, from embroidery and crochet to felting aliens and mermaids

We learned about the fabulous history and heritage of the village, with tales of famous resident Archibald Knox who posted his Liberty designs at the Sulby Post Office, to the Church and Hall itself which was once a school and which has a fascinating and unique history

We heard about the Sulby Art Group, the Monday Club and met the miniature residents of Sue Cook's incredible dolls houses

And, of course, we talked all about the 2019 Flower Festival, with it's rather perfect theme 'Working Together', which starts on Sunday and runs through to July 6th. At the Sulby Hall itself you can see the dolls houses, craft work and of course wonderful flower arrangements for yourself, but there are so many things to do and see all over the Island during the Festival - find out more at their website here.

If you missed any part of today's programme you can listen again at this link for the next 7 days. And there are plenty of photos and videos on our Facebook page.

If you think we should visit your Village Hall, drop us an email to latelunch@manxradio.com, we'd love to hear from you!
