On Air Night Flight | Midnight - 6:00am

Imagine a place..

On this week's programme, we have a chat with musician and composer David Kilgallon about some of his recent projects, plus we’ll be looking back at the Arts in Mann Travelling Gallery as Charles Guard speaks to Norman Sayle, Dave Fletcher and students from the Isle of Man College .

Do get in touch if you’d like to come up and talk about what you do creatively, or if you know something you think we ought to know about - Spotlight@manxradio.com is the email address, or you can message the Manx Radio Facebook page.

David Kilgallon is our first guest on the show today - I caught up with him to ask about two rather big, recent projects in particular!

Watch the video featuring David's composition here.

Now we have a bit of a blast from the past for you, squirreled away in our archives, I found this lovely conversation between Charles Guard and David Fletcher, one of the founders of Arts in Mann who was instrumental in seeking and refurbishing the double decker bus, which became known as the Travelling Gallery, plus Norman Sayle who joined up with the movement. Charles caught up with the bus in where Art Students from the Isle of Man College, were touring the Island sharing their work on the Travelling Gallery which provided the Island’s first dedicated contemporary art space.

I promise to keep digging through the archives to see if I can find any more gems like this!

If you’re looking for something lovely to do this weekend, there’s a new exhibition of paintings by artist Ellie Baker up at the Isle Gallery in Tynwald Mills.

Ellie is a landscape artist with a distinct style that draws the viewer in, sets the imagination to work and calls for detailed inspection. She works mainly from memory and imagination, combining remembered elements from the Island's land and seascapes. If you’re thinking of dropping in, the gallery is open on Saturday between 1pm - 5pm and Sunday from 2pm - 5pm.

That’s all we have time for this week - I’ll be back next Wednesday at half past five but in the meantime you can get in touch through Spotlight@manxradio.com and you can find information and links about today’s programme in our blog on the manx radio website, where you can also listen again to this week’s programme anytime as a podcast.

Have a lovely, creative week!
