Little Thief

On the programme this week, we have part two of our chat with Textile Conservator Jacqueline Hyman, music from Little Thief and we visit the Cabinet of Curiosities housing a stunning collection of Archibald Knox works at the Manx Museum.

Email me via Spotlight@manxradio.com if you have any creative happenings you’d like to tell us about, and you’ll find links, listen again and our podcast on the Manx Radio website.

First this blustery afternoon, we have part two of our conversation with Textile Conservator, Jacqueline Hyman who has been working hard at restoring Manx National Heritage’s collection of Napoleonic military uniforms.

If you’re looking for something fun to do this weekend, Dark Horse are taking over the Basement Bar below Just Pizza Pasta with  Bristol-based Alt-rock act Little Thief headlining the night and support from No One Died, Terence George and The Blair House Project. The event starts at 8 on Friday night and runs until 3 o’clock on Saturday morning - find tickets on Facebook or via the spotlight blog at manxradio.com - we hear Little Thief with Freak.

We’re now going to take a visit to the Manx Museum’s Cabinet of Curiosities which for the next month will be housing a stunning array of works by Archibald Knox, curated by the Archibald Knox Forum. I spoke to Manx National Heritage’s Curator for Social History, Yvonne Cresswell about this fabulous collection.

There are also a number of talks about the artefacts and Knox’s work The Deer’s Cry, something which we’ll be talking to Yvonne about more next week - talks will be taking place at various times between now and the end of the exhibition which is the 26th of January - for dates and details, head to Manx National Heritage's Facebook events and website.

Don’t forget that this weekend sees the return of the Christmas Art Crawl, where talented local artists will once again be welcoming you to their stalls and studios from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon with music and refreshments rolled in! Find out more on Facebook!

Join me again next Wednesday at half past five but in the meantime you can listen again on demand or via our podcast which is available on the Manx Radio website. Have a lovely creative week!
