On Air One to Three Christy Dehaven | 1:00pm - 3:00pm

OIOW & IOMFF

On today’s programme, we’re looking ahead to the Isle of Man Film Festival and the Our Island, Our World Festival of World Music and Culture, which both take place this weekend.

Do get in touch if you’d like to come up and talk about what you do creatively, or if you know something you think we ought to know about - Spotlight@manxradio.com is the email address, or you can message the Manx Radio Facebook page.

This weekend is set to be massive, with OIOW Festival of World Music and Culture making its’ debut at the Peel Centenary Centre, AND the Isle of Man Film Festival celebrating its’ 8th year.

Founder of the Isle of Man Film Festival, Dave Armstrong joins us first to tell us what’s in store! Tickets for Festival events and more information can be found here.

In Peel this Friday the 7th and Saturday the 8th of September, the island sees its first Our Island, Our World Festival of World Music and Culture.  Friday’s line-up features the Vera Van Heeringen Trio, Sheelanagig and Baka Beyond! She’s a very busy lady, I was able to catch up with the lovely Su Hart, funnily enough, while she was climbing a hill in Somerset!

Saturday is set to be a day of free family fun with a daytime celebration at Peel Cathedral featuring dance, food and music from around the world. Saturday night features music from Headliners Soothsayers, Clash Vooar and The Angel Brothers. I spoke to Keith Angel, one half of the Angel Brothers ahead of their return to the Island.

Spotlight will be back next Wednesday at 5:30pm, listen again on demand or as a podcast via www.manxradio.com .
