On Air The Afternoon Show Alex Brindley | 3:00pm - 5:30pm

#MRWomenToday listen again: Fern Hopkinson, and Club Soda UK

Our studio guest this afternoon was veterinary surgeon Fern Hopkinson from Strand Vets in Port Erin. Fern managed to use her magical nursing tones to keep Beth and Christy calm under the studio stress; she also told us all about the practice’s ground breaking key hole surgery and gave us all manner of tips on how to look after our pets, from pups to last days. You can find out more about the practice via their website, facebook, or by calling them on 01624 835424

- also today, we asked whether the BBC are doing enough to challenge the gender pay gap claims;

- we looked at revelations that while you’re following your fitness tech, someone could be using your tech to follow you....as Global Heatmaps can reveal far more than just your jogging routes ;

- and, as it’s almost the end of dry January (hurray!) we asked  how many of you made it through the month without gin...or wine...or beer....and Christy spoke with Laura Willoughby MBE, founder of Club Soda, the ‘Mindful Drinking Movement’, who gave us hints and tips on how to moderate our drink intake. You can find out more about how to join the Club via their website here

If you missed any part of today’s programme you can go back and listen again at this link for the next 7 days.

Tomorrow we are joined by Anna Goldsmith and Emma Callin, who are coming in to tell us about Year of Our Island 2018, and we’ll speaking with some very excitable local choristers who have just returned from performing (to a standing ovation) at the Carnegie Hall in New York.
