Women Today listen again: live from the Henry Bloom Noble Library

Beth and Christy were live from the Henry Bloom Noble Library in Douglas today, to celebrate their annual 'Mince Pie Day', when the staff give their customers hot drinks and mince pies as a token of thanks for their custom throughout the year.

Head Librarian Jan Macartney filled us in on developments for the library this year and also shared the wonderful news that the Library will be FREE to join for all customers from April 2018. Find out all it - along with the wonderful services it has to offer here;

We were also joined by new published illustrator Vicky Webb, who has created the beautiful new Manx Alphabet Book in conjunction with Culture Vannin. Perfect for kids and big kids alike, it's a fabulous new tool to assist anyone of any age in learning the alphabet and getting on their way to learn the Manx language. It's £5 and can bought from various local retailers, including the Culture Vannin shop in St Johns;

We had our final chat of the year with the team from 2018 Year Of Our Island, Jennie Wheeler and Nick Hawkes, who told us about the successes and challenges, the initial aims and how the scheme progressed and developed over the year. Although the year is rapidly drawing to a close, there is still time to enter the Photography Competition - find all the details here and go to their Facebook page to look back at the year;

And we wrapped it all up with a charitable musical bow, as singer songwriter Graihagh sang us out with a live version of her single 'How Simple It Is', from which all proceeds go to the White Chapel Centre which she supports in her Uni town of Liverpool. You can find Graihagh on Facebook and can get the single on iTunes, Apple Music and Spotify or buy from her directly for £2 if you'd prefer a good old fashioned CD copy.

You can listen back to the full programme at this link for 7 days.
