On Air Saturday Live Paul Moran | 12:30pm - 5:00pm

Women Today listen again: Mermaids and moots!

Beth and Christy were joined today by Angela Katz (a real life mermaid!) and Sue Biggerstaff from the Southern Swimming Pool in Castletown, who told them all about a channel swimming challenge raising money for the Aspire spinal injury charity. There's still time to take part in the fundraiser - find out more by calling 823930. Or find out how you can be a mermaid by visiting the Isle of Man Mermaids facebook page here

They were also joined by Jennie Wheeler from 2018 Year of Our Island and Chloe Woolley from Culture Vannin, who came in to tell us all about the huge number of things to do over Hop Tu Naa and Half Term. Chloe also sang for us the Peel version of the Jinny the Witch song. There are a number of resources available for Hop Tu Naa on the Culture Vannin website here, including details of the moot carving competition, and you can find out all about the various events by following Our Island here.

We also heard a short piece from an interview with Ruth Solomon who launches her fascinating memoirs, 'An Unusual Life', on Saturday at 2pm at St Matthews Church on North Quay Douglas. You'll be able to buy the book in all good local bookshops and hear more of our chat with Ruth on Women Today next week.
