Claare ny Gael 2nd June 2019

50 minutes | Sunday, 2 June 2019

Bob Carswell delivers a weekly programme of great Manx Gaelic broadcasting and entertainment. This week, following William Gell's 1906 poem, we find what was reputed to be the world's largest fuchsia growing at Ballure, before moving on to discover something of the industrial heritage of Ramsey associated with Thomas Cunningham Gibson, whose shipyard produced the oldest iron-hulled vessel in the world which is still afloat in San Diego, California, the Star of India. We hear of the historic significance of Skyhill and, below it, of Milntown. In our Manx story, a young man is caught out beautifully by a young lady on a train.
