There's a rumour that there won't be any sweets in the Port St Mary Scripture Union Beach Mission this year ... but don't worry - it's only the group names that are changing! A fortnight of fun, games, crafts, contests and interactive Bible-based games are on offer for ages 0 - 17 years, from 31 July to 12 August. Sheran Harper is World Wide President of Mothers' Union - leading 4.5. million women in 84 different countries, who work where they live, to support family life in all its forms, and to empower the marginalised and the abused - who are usually women and children. Sheran has been on the Island this week, meeting Mothers' Union members here and learning more about their service to the Island community, as well as unveiling a sculpture in the Bible Garden in the grounds of the Cathedral in Peel, and presenting a very special award to 100-year-old Mrs May Corlett - the oldest MU Branch Leader in the world!! (May is the Branch Leader in Marown!)

The Notice Board has full details of the very varied programme of events for St Maughold's Week, 24 - 31 July, culminating in the celebration of St Maughold's Day on 31 July - and there's music, too - from The Salvation Army, Dave Bilbrough and Stuart Townend
