AT YOUR SERVICE - 26 JULY 2020

At Your Service

Sunday, 26 July 2020 - 30 minutes

The famous Port St Mary Beach Mission has been providing two weeks of fun, games, friendship and Bible teaching every year since 1901 - only missing the years of the two World Wars!  It's an impressive record, and still attracts around 400 local children and young people each summer.  It's organised by Scripture Union Ministries Trust, and the Beach Mission Headquarters are at Mallmore on the Promenade in Port St Mary.
When the Covid-19 pandemic struck, Beach Mission Leaders David and Evelyn Stewart realised that it wouldn't be possible to run the usual event in August - so they set to work to take it on-line - creating Virtually Beach Mission this year, with resources and activities (and videos) all available via the website - www.psmbm.org.uk
The relaxation of some Covid-19 restrictions now means that, as well as Virtually Beach Mission on-line,  a limited number of actual  activities will take place on the beach at Port St Mary during the afternoons of the Mission fortnight - 3rd to 14th August - and you can find details of them on the website too.
So, David and Evelyn Stewart - Virtually Beach Mission leaders - are At Your Service today - sharing their own story, the story of the Scripture Union Beach Mission, and a taster of what Virtually Beach Mission has to offer - they also lead a time of reflection and prayer based around a Bible verse which is particularly appropriate for the Beach Mission.
And David and Evelyn have chosen a great mix of music too!

At Your Service last week was in Maughold - talking with Clare Faulds about the Feast of St Maughold and the celebrations planned in and around Kirk Maughold for three days - 31st July, and 1st and 2nd August. The full programme of events has been published now - with something for everyone, of all ages.  You can find all the details at www.facebook.com/KirkMaughold,  or you can phone or text Clare on 455280
