AT YOUR SERVICE - 30 AUGUST 2020

At Your Service

Saturday, 29 August 2020 - 30 minutes

Described as "A gathering in prayer and reflection, as we mourn those who have died, weep with those who weep, and give thanks for those who labour faithfully for all our sakes" a special Service of Reflection, organised by the Isle of Man Government,  was held in St George's Church in Douglas on Friday 28th August, to reflect and give thanks for all that has been achieved in relation to the Covid-19 pandemic, and to place into God's care, whatever may lie ahead for us.
Led by the Archdeacon of Mann, the Venerable Andie Brown, who is both Vicar of St George's and Chaplain to the House of Keys, the service also includes contributions from Chief Minister Hon Howard Quayle, Mr Speaker, Hon Juan Watterson, Mayor of Douglas, Councillor Jonathan Joughin, Monsignor John Devine, Reverend Richard Hall, Pastor John Powell, Pastor Jonathan Stanfield, Reverend Dawn Mather, Bob Jeavons (Secretary of CAiM - Churches Alive in Mann) and Leonard Singer, representing the Island's Jewish community.
Singing is led by the choir of St George's, joined by members of the Government Choir, and the organist is Mr Nicholas Roberts.
The Lord Bishop, the Rt Rev'd Peter Eagles, who is also a member of the legislature - gives the address.
This week's edition of AT YOUR SERVICE brings you an edited version of the service, but if you would prefer to listen to the  complete service, it's available now as a podcast in this AT YOUR SERVICE section - search for NATIONAL SERVICE OF REFLECTION - 28 AUGUST 2020
