There are six items in Tynwald this week relating to Climate Change. Overall emissions to be reduced by at least 35% by 2030 and reduced by at least 45% by 2035. There’s a ban on microbeads and single use plastic, including plates, bags, straws, stirrers, cutlery, and cups; and a there’s a clear plan and road map for us to become carbon neutral by 2050. There are benefits to all this too including better insulated buildings which are cheaper to keep warm, reducing energy bills and fuel poverty, reduced flood risk, cleaner water and air. Sounds like a good place to be but are you convinced it’s worth the effort?
