Manx Customs and Traditions - Cutting the turf in a car park - Manx dancing by Skeddan Jiarg
A simplified version of the Manx dance, 'Cutting the Turf', performed in rehearsal by Skeddan Jiarg.
This short film was recorded in a rehearsal held in a hotel car park in Cornwall (which was the most easily-available space that could accommodate them) hours before the group performed at the Lowender Peran Festival in November 2017.
'Cutting the Turf' (also sometimes known as 'Daunse ny Moain' or 'The Turf Dance') was created in 1955 by one of the leading figures in Manx traditional dance, Leighton Stowell.
