Manx Customs and Traditions - The Crosh Cuirn: A Manx tradition for May Day Eve
On May Day eve (Oie Voaldyn) the evil spirits will be at their strongest in the Isle of Man.
So you might want to protect your home by making a "crosh cuirn" - a small cross made from twigs from a specific tree and sheep’s wool.
