Chamber of Commerce supports Gatwick plan

Joint letter sent to UK transport secretary

The Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce has added its voice to support for Gatwick Airport's plans to put its north emergency runway into regular use.

The local group's one of six, from across the British Isles, which has written a joint letter to UK Transport Secretary Grant Shapps.

A consultation process has been in place since September and ends at midnight tonight (1 December).

Under the plans the main runway would be used for all traffic with the emergency strip used by smaller aircraft.

Along with the Isle of Man the joint letter is signed by representatives from Aberdeen, Belfast, Guernsey, London and Sussex.
