'Runway closures should be scrapped by end of summer', says Airport Director 

There are currently 17 air traffic controllers, with plans to recruit at 18th

It's hoped runway closures due to air traffic control breaks at Ronaldsway Airport will be scrapped by the end of the summer.

The airport director says flights currently have to be halted twice daily due to the number of air traffic controllers - that number is down from five when the closures were first introduced

However, Gary Cobb confirmed there are now 17 controllers - the majority of which are still getting through the training programme. 

He told Manx Radio since the disruption's last summer, the airport has been working hard to resolve the disturbance to flights and is ready to recruit an 18th member:
