Bus drivers to 'work to rule' again next week

Holiday dispute continues

Bus drivers will ‘work to rule’ next week for the second time in a month in a dispute over holiday.

Union chiefs say disruption is more than likely.

From Monday morning until the following Sunday night (September 24), drivers will only fulfil their contracted hours and refuse to work overtime.

Unite head Eric Holmes says the action is being taken as no progress has been made during negotiations with the Department of Infrastructure over the amount of annual leave bus drivers are allowed each TT.

The DoI wants to reduce the number of drivers granted holiday during the fortnight.

Mr Holmes says with the action over seven days and including the weekend, disruption to services is likely as management and supervisors will have to man buses.

He adds that, so far, Infrastructure Minister Ray Harmer has not accepted an invitation to discuss the matter.
