Businesses highlight issues with getting insurance for hot food deliveries

DfE says it's working to find a solution

Some businesses on the Island say they're struggling to get fast food delivery insurance so they can deliver hot takeaways.

The difficulties are being blamed on some UK companies paying their drivers per delivery which allegedly causes them to take unnecessary risks on the road.

Dave Matthews is from Peel Fisheries Chippy - he says he can't even get a quote to insure four drivers he wants to hire.

He told Manx Radio it's stopping him expanding his business:

The Department for Enterprise says it's aware of the issues being experienced by some businesses and is working with local insurers to explore a solution.
