Consultation opens on short-term gas customer protection

Regulator wants to guard against 'excessive pricing'

A consultation has opened which will help decide how gas prices will be set in the short-term.

The newly-formed Communications and Utilities Regulatory Authority has been tasked with setting tariffs after government and Manx Gas failed to reach a deal.

It's asking the public for views on measures to shield gas customers against 'excessive pricing' from the monopoly provider.

This protection will be in place temporarily while the authority works up long-term proposals for gas regulation.

Manx Gas's views will also be sought as part of the consultation.

The deadline for responses is 15 April.
