Could MLCs lose right to vote?

Plans to alter Chief Minister election process

A bid to change the way the Chief Minister is elected will be made this morning (Tuesday).

Policy and Reform Minister Chris Thomas believes only elected politicians in the House of Keys should have a say in the appointment of the top job.

The amendment was voted down by the Legislative Council last year but is now being brought forward again.

The final House of Keys sitting of 2017 starts at 10 this morning -you can hear live coverage of question time on AM1368, manxradio.com and on the apps

Mr Thomas says a law change would mean future Chief Ministers could be appointed without needing the support of the upper house.
