Drunken argument lands Douglas woman in court

PAVA spray used during arrest due to 'volatility'

A Douglas woman will be sentenced next year after a drunken argument with her boyfriend led to her being arrested.

Shalane Mincher, of Sumark Avenue, admitted using provoking behaviour and obstructing police during an appearance at Douglas Courthouse.

Police were called to Strand Street, just after 3am, on 19 November after the 29-year-old was seen hitting the man in the face.

Officers had to restrain her on the floor due to her ‘volatility’ and PAVA incapacitant spray was also used.

After being arrested Mincher told them: “I need to stop drinking. I should have kept out of it.”

The court was told the argument had been sparked by messages she’d seen on her partner’s phone which had upset her.

A social enquiry report has been requested before Mincher is sentenced on 1 February; she’s been bailed until that date.
