Former restaurant could become apartments

Owner can't find suitable tenant to take on Ramsey building

New apartments could be built in Ramsey if permission is granted to convert a former restaurant.

A planning application has been submitted to transform Shipdesign House, on East Quay, into four residential dwellings.

The owner wants to convert the ground floor restaurant, and first floor function room, because they can’t find a suitable tenant to take the property on as a hospitality business.

The last occupant closed down ‘due to not being able to make it financially viable’.

In the planning occupation the applicant says a new residential status will bring life back to that part of the harbour and provide activity, natural surveillance and security.

The three-storey building, which is within the Ramsey Conservation Area, already houses two existing apartments.

The application is pending consideration - you can find more details HERE.
