MHK concerned Government prioritising attracting new people more than supporting current residents

The Government is aiming to increase the population to 100,000 by 2037

An MHK says he's concerned the government is focussing on attracting new people instead of supporting current residents.

In Tynwald this week, Jason Moorhouse asked the Chief Minister if he was concerned about the latest population figures which estimate the population will reach 92,000 by 2035 or 2036.

They also show around 35% of people who move to the Island leave within five years.

The government is aiming to grow the Manx population to 100,000 by 2037.

Chief Minister Alfred Cannan said the Island needed better vibrancy to attract more young workers.

But Mr Moorhouse is questioning the government's priorities:
