No cases of avian flu but threat of further outbreaks remains

Recent cases believed to have come from migratory birds

There are currently no cases of avian influenza on the Isle of Man but there's a risk of further outbreaks in future.

That's been confirmed by the Island's chief veterinary officer Amy Beckett.

Several outbreaks of the virus are currently being dealt with in the UK which could easily be spread here by wild birds.

Recent cases are believed to have been brought in by migratory birds between the months of November and February:
