Passengers call for better treatment at airport

Replacement ambulift to enter service soon

Government has apologised for 'lower than normal service' at the airport after claims that passengers who required assistance weren't able to access it.

One of those calling for better help at Ronaldsway is Sam Morrison.

His grandson was returning from Liverpool after surgery on a broken leg but was, he claims, left to manoeuvre around the airport by himself – despite asking staff for help.

Mr Morrison told Manx Radio the airport needs to focus on the needs of their passengers:

A spokesperson for the Department of Infrastructure says both the airport and ground handling agent strive to provide customers with whatever assistance they require.

For persons with reduced mobility, advance booking of wheelchairs via their airline (when booking), helps ensure that resources are available in advance to assist them.

It adds that the airport has acquired a replacement 'ambulift' - to replace the original vehicle which was withdrawn from service owing to its age and general condition - which should enter service this month.
