Ramsey Commissioners unhappy with temporary table tops in Parliament Street

DOI installed the temporary measure earlier this week

Ramsey Commissioners says it doesn't want a tarmac road bump to become a permanent feature in the town.

The road surface on Parliament Street is currently made up of granite which is starting to crack.

The Department of Infrastructure says it is looking at design options to permanently repair both this ramp and another suffering similar issues.

Clerk Tim Cowin says the tarmac isn't 'in keeping' with the area and there needs to be a 'permanent' fix.

He's been speaking to Local Democracy Reporter Emma Draper:

The Department of Infrastructure has responded saying: "This is a temporary fix that could be applied quickly (in a day) and cause minimum disruption for business and the public.

"We are currently looking at design options to permanently repair both this ramp and another suffering similar issues.

'We want to make sure that both ramps are not prone to a repeat of the deterioration previously experienced.

"The ramp was getting in a worse condition and it wasn't prudent to wait until a permanent solution could be delivered."
