Saddleworth blaze 'not a worry' for Island

Met Office issues reassurances to public

Smoke from a moorland fire in the north west of England will be adding to the hazy conditions on the Isle of Man, the Met Office has confirmed.

The four-mile blaze at Saddleworth, outside of Manchester, has led to the distribution of face masks by local councils.

Some 50 homes have been evacuated, and military personnel have been enlisted to assist fire crews.

Despite the light easterly wind, the distance from the fire to the Island will result in dispersal of smoke over the sea.

However, Weatherman David Britton at Ronaldsway said there is nothing to worry about:
