Tynwald to be asked to avoid sitting during school half-term breaks

It's a recommendation in a report going before the court later this month

Dates of sittings of Tynwald and its other branches should be scheduled to make sure they don't take place during school half-term breaks.

That's one recommendation in a report to go before Tynwald this month which the court will be asked to receive

Douglas North MHK David Ashford will move at the court's May sitting that members receive the second report of the Standing Orders Committee on sitting dates and other matters.

There are 18 recommendations around political sittings and 33 amendments which Tynwald will also be asked to approve.

Also among the recommendations, the report says the requirement to submit Tynwald business six weeks in advance should be reduced to four weeks.

Elsewhere, the report also recommends that Tynwald discourages the scheduling of presentations to all members during days the court sits.

Mr Ashford's motion will be put forward at Tynwald's sitting scheduled to take place from 16-18 May.
