JJ Griffin takes two wickets during day three loss

The Isle of Man were on the receiving end of a five-wicket defeat by Greece during their third day at the European Cricket Championship in Spain yesterday (27 September).

Having lost both of their remaining Group A fixtures on Tuesday (26 September), the Manx team faced their Greek opponents in the group eliminator contest with Greece a side they'd previously beaten earlier in the tournament.

The Isle of Man won the toss and chose to bat first and faced a challenging start as Ollie Webster fell for four runs within the first over with Christian Webster dismissed not long after at 17-2.

The Island squad did recover from there with the stand out batting displays coming from Joe Burrows (34 runs from 18 balls) and Nathan Knights (22 runs off nine balls) to eventually finish the innings on 90-8.

Greece then went into bat with Amin Qasir bowled by Isle of Man's Kieran Cawte with one over played, but from then Greece began to assert their authority.

Despite JJ Griffin taking two wickets and Chris Langford taking one wicket also, it wasn't enough to stop an imperious Greece securing the win at 91-5 with less than one over remaining.
