Judo: Horton & Askin crowned Irish Open champions

Horton also battles to Round-of-16 in Abu Dhabi

There's been more success for the Isle of Man's judo competitors during the recent Irish Open in Dublin.

Representing the Island were Chris Horton and Sean Askin who'd both secured three medals between them at the British Masters in October.

Horton was first to compete and took gold in the M3 U100kg class - in the same day Horton then took part in the Open Category which he would also go on to take victory.

It was then Askin's turn in the M1 U90kg section and after powering through the early stages and overcoming a tough test in the semi-finals before he swept to gold in the final itself.

What's more, Askin would then add to his medal tally also by winning the M1 Kyu Grade class.

Since the duo's success, Horton has since also been involved in the World Veteran's Championships in Abu Dhabi representing Great Britain.

He reached the Round-of-16 before being beaten by his opponent from Tajikistan.
