FC Isle of Man hoping to break duck against Merseyside visitors

FC Isle of Man are back on home soil for the penultimate time this season when they face AFC Liverpool in the NWCFL Premier Division on Saturday night (20 April).

It marks the Ravens' third match in five days after 1-1 draws at both Charnock Richard and Irlam on Tuesday and Thursday this week.

FC Isle of Man Manager, Paul Jones has paid tribute to the resilience of his players in what has already been a busy seven days.

What's more - given his side's high-scoring draw with their latest opponents earlier in the season - he's expecting quite an open contest tomorrow evening:

Lying tenth in the league standings with two games remaining, FC Isle of Man still have the chance to finish as high as eighth depending on results this weekend and next.

After earning a point in each of their matches during midweek, the Manx side have maintained a strong run of form at the tail end of the game having lost just two of their last ten contests.

The three meetings in the league so far between the Island outfit and AFC Liverpool haven't been short of goalmouth action with 17 goals across those clashes.

The latest of those was a 4-4 draw at The Marine Travel Arena on 23 September 2023 - the game was abandoned in the 73rd minute due to an injury with the result confirmed just under two weeks later.

For this weekend's visitors, they hold a dominant record against FC Isle of Man in all competitions to date.

AFC Liverpool haven't lost any of their five encounters with the Ravens since they first met in the Macron Cup in September 2022, winning four of those.

In a boost in recent form, the Merseyside club have won five of their last eight including a 3-2 win last time out against Glossop North End on 13 April.

FC Isle of Man vs AFC Liverpool takes place at The Bowl on Saturday, 20 April, kicking-off at 6pm.

Manx Radio will be providing full live match commentary on our DAB and AM1368 channels.
