SPORT: Smith goes for round 2 in Spine Race

Multiple Manxies take on continuous 268-mile challenge

Orran Smith is currently battling against his first extreme race of 2024.

The local runner is taking on the Spine Race - a 268-mile continuous journey along the Pennine Way.

It's not his first time doing the challenge, last year he completed the same race, finishing in the top 12, well within the 160 hour time limit, and raising more than £7000 for the Isle of Man MS Society in the process.

This time around he's being joined by fellow Manxies Mike Gregory and former history maker in the Manx boxing scene Nikki Arthur who's competing in the Spine Challenger North, which takes place along the same course but over 160 miles with a 90 hour time limit.
