Ray Harmer
Ray Harmer
Ray Harmer is an independent candidate and he is currently one of Glenfaba and Peel's MHKs and a member of the Council of Ministers.
This is his fourth time standing in an election, having been unsuccessful in the 2011 General Election before being elected to the House of Keys in the 2015 by-election, and regaining his seat in the 2016 General Election.
He was the minister of the Department of Infrastructure until June last year when he was made the minister of the Department of Policy and Reform.
He has one child and enjoys playing the saxophone, walking, cycling, running and golf in his spare time.
He's finished the Parish Walk twice, has cycled from Lands End to John O'Groats and completed three marathons.
We asked each candidate to choose three priorities from the following issues or add their own:
Climate change, heritage, tourism, public transport, affordable housing, roads, mental health, education, falling birth rate, encouraging university students to return to the Island.
Ray chose climate change and affordable housing, while also adding the economy and integrated mental healthcare.
