James Cherry

James Cherry

James Cherry is an independent candidate and this is his first time standing to be an MHK.

In 2016 he became a commissioner for Onchan and was one of the Island's youngest local authority representatives at just 21.

He stood down from the position in 2019 for personal reasons though, but promised a return to Manx politics when the time was right.

Two years later, he says he wants to drive long term, beneficial and prosperity change to the Island.

In his spare time, James enjoys motorsports, cricket, football and he plays in Rushen Silver Band.

We asked each candidate to choose three priorities from the following issues or add their own:

Climate change, heritage, tourism, public transport, affordable housing, roads, mental health, education, falling birth rate, encouraging university students to return to the Island.

James chose climate change, affordable housing and mental health, and also added local authority reform.
