Peter is standing for the Liberal Vannin Party in Onchan.
He founded the political party and served as an MHK for more than 30 years, first briefly for Middle with the majority of those years spent as Onchan's representative.
He chose not to run for re-election in 2016, saying it was time to give someone else the opportunity to serve.
However, he says he's 'horrified' at the way many things have gone backwards over the last 10 years.
He says: "I believe that my experience will help in a very challenging time, and help set the direction of government for our nation."
